The My Adventures in Disneyland Holiday Wish List: Day 11
If your holiday budget allows it, a great gift idea for your favorite Disneylander might just be from Dooney & Bourke. Their Disney-inspired handbags and accessories come in a wide variety of styles and sizes with prices ranging from $50 to $360. All Disney Parks Dooney & Bourke products are built to last through more than a few of your own adventures and my favorite patterns include the black and white Mickey Mouse Comics pattern released at the D23 Expo earlier this year, the iconic Disneyland Retro pattern and the much sought after Haunted Mansion pattern (which retails for $330) expected to arrive at Disney Parks any day now. If a handbag isn't quite right, you should consider their other Disney Parks items. I am happy with all the Dooney & Bourke items I have purchased,
including an iPhone 4 case that I loved for its style and durability. Their iPhone cases retail for $50 or their iPad cases are currently selling for $90. Dooney & Bourke Disney Parks items can be purchased at the Disney Store and Disney Parks.
And, hopefully coming soon?

The My Adventures in Disneyland Holiday Wish List: Day 10
I love collecting Disney Parks shirts for my trips to Disneyland so I was very excited when I saw the new Sleeping Beauty Castle Neon Tee For Adults at the Disney Store which was created especially for the Disneyland Resort. This very unique tee comes in sizes small through 2X and features the classic Disneyland logo and a very festive firework show over Disneyland's beloved castle. With its glow-in-the-dark neon graphics this Disney Parks tee is perfect for a day (and night) at the Disneyland Resort. This soft 100% cotton jersey knit tee has a ribbed crew neck and retails for $24.95 at the Disney Store and, of course, at the Disneyland Resort. There are also other neon styles available, including a Disneyland sweatshirt featuring the old Disneyland Marquee for $39.95.

The My Adventures in Disneyland Holiday Wish List: Day 9
If you loved Walt Disney Animation Studios' new animated feature film Frozen like we did then a holiday pick for you might just be the Disney's Frozen 2-Disc Deluxe Edition Soundtrack. Our favorite tracks include the amazing Let It Go performed by the uber-talented Idina Menzel as Elsa, Do You Want To Build A Snow Man?, For The First Time In Forever and, my son's favorite, the very comical In Summer by Josh Gad as the lovable snowman Olaf. Before you know it you just might find yourself singing along like we do. This Deluxe Edition features a total of 55 tracks (while the standard
Frozen soundtrack consists of 32 tracks) and can be purchased at several major retail locations, including the Disney Store and at Disney Parks. The cheapest price I found for it was at Amazon.com where the Deluxe Frozen Soundtrack is currently
selling for $15.83 and also includes a free MP3 AutoRip of the complete
soundtrack. This very impressive album is currently the best-selling soundtrack on both iTunes and on Amazon.com where it has a "4.8 out of 5 stars" customer satisfaction rating. This very popular album is a hit with fans and critics alike and it just became the 10th soundtrack from an animated feature film to reach the top 10 behind Disney's own Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, Tarzan and Cars and four non-Disney films - Pokemon: The First Movie, Shrek 2, Curious George and the animated/live action film Space Jam.

The My Adventures in Disneyland Holiday Wish List: Day 7
A holiday classic cartoon that we are sure to watch every year as a family in our house is Mickey's Christmas Carol, featuring Uncle Scrooge as Charles Dickens' Ebenezer Scrooge, so I was excited to see that it was being released on Blu-Ray this holiday season in honor of its historic 30th anniversary. This Christmas classic is the main feature of this special edition along with a collection of cartoon shorts sure to put you and yours in a festive mood. My favorite of the shorts are two epic cartoons - The Art of Skiing with Goofy and Corn Chips with Donald, Chip and Dale. There is even a Disney Christmas Carol
sing-along included in this very special anniversary edition. The classic cartoons mixed with the magic of Blu-Ray technology make the Mickey's Christmas Carol 30th Anniversary Special Edition collection an especially perfect gift for any Disney fan. The best deal I found online for either set (which both include a Digital Copy) was at Amazon with the regular DVD version selling for $19.99 or it's $24.98 for the Blu-Ray edition. Both available editions can also be purchased at the Disney Store and at Disney Parks.
The shorts included are:
Yodelberg - Featuring Mickey & Minnie
The Hockey Champ - Featuring Donald and his nephews Huey, Dewey & Louie
Pluto's Christmas Tree - Featuring Pluto, Chip & Dale
The Art of Skiing - Featuring Goofy
Corn Chips - Featuring Donald, Chip & Dale

The My Adventures in Disneyland Holiday Wish List: Day 6
Created for Walt Disney World and Disneyland, the new Mickey Mouse Fair Isle Tee for Adults is sure to be a big hit with Disney Parks guests. Their faux stitch screen art patterns are very playful and festive and are a great way to show off your Disney Side. Mickey Mouse Fair Isle Tees can be purchased in red, navy, gray and taupe and each color of shirt features an unique Fair Isle pattern with Mickey Mouse. My favorite is the red version with its little Mickey Mouses, trees and castles that remind me of another castle I love so much. Since Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort often includes warmer days (and nights) these tees would be perfect for a day running around the parks. These Hanes shirts have a ribbed crew neck and are 100% cotton. They sell for $24.99 and can currently be purchased at the Disney Store, the Walt Disney World Resort and at the Disneyland Resort.

The My Adventures in Disneyland Holiday Wish List: Day 5
As a lifelong Star Wars fan I, of course, had to include at least one Star Wars gift idea on my holiday wish list. One item I think almost any Star Wars fans would really appreciate getting is the Plasticolor Star Wars Sunshade. Yes, it is a real product and not just some photoshopped photo created as a joke. While you are away from your vehicle, Luke, Obi-Wan, Han and Chewie can keep your lil Millennium Falcon cool and safe from the sun while showing off your Star Wars pride. This unique fold-up accordion sunshade (equipped with a handy elastic strap for storage) is "universal" in size (58"x28") and fits most standard-sized wind shields. Fear not if you are on a budget because this very cool officially licenced Star Wars item is also very affordable. It is currently on sale at Pep Boys for $9.98 (from $14.99) and it can also be purchased online at Amazon.com and on Ebay.

The My Adventures in Disneyland Holiday Wish List: Day 4
Another great holiday gift pick sure to please almost any Disney fan this year are the uber cute Adorkable Apparel tshirts currently for sale online. They come in a variety of designs and include offerings for women and men. I especially love dark clothing so I'm in love with their new Sea Witch Tee which can be purchased for $27.99 in sizes ranging from small to XXL. I also really appreciate their extended sizing as someone who is larger and likes to look my stylish best.
Adorkable Apparel items can be purchased at www.adorkableapparel.com. This fashion line was created by Traci Hines, a celebrity in the Disney community who creates and models the looks, and her brother Cam Oden, a talented photographer. All their items are made in the USA and their graphic tshirts and crop tops are either digitally printed or screen-printed by hand so quality will not be a concern. As the website states, "Adorkable status occurs when fantasy and reality make friends, and the girl next door is really a mermaid in disguise" so they do not stop at just tshirts. Adorkable Apparel also offers crop tops, a sweatshirt, sunglasses and sunglasses frames fit for your favorite Disney-loving "dreamsters".

The My Adventures in Disneyland Holiday Wish List: Day 3
If you love Disney then you should already be well-aware of who Robert Sherman was and surely you know the words to more than a few of his memorable songs. I have had a deep respect for both Robert and Richard Sherman for decades now and that respect only grew deeper after I saw the amazing documentary, The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story, created by Jeffrey Sherman. So, you can imagine how excited I was to learn that a book was just released that was written by Robert Sherman himself. The book is entitled Moose and I have not had a chance to read it yet but it is on my Christmas wish list this year. I can't wait to hear more about his life and get a deeper understanding of him by reading his own words. As Robert Sherman wrote in the introduction, "Moose to me is like a song." and if anyone knew how to write a great song it was Robert Sherman. Moose can be purchase at Amazon.com for kindle and in both hardback and paperback versions. The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story is also currently available for purchase at such locations as Amazon.com, the Disney Store and Disney Parks.

The My Adventures in Disneyland Holiday Wish List: Day 2
My favorite Disney attraction is the Haunted Mansion so I was very happy to see all the Haunted Mansion items that have been available for purchase this year. From ornaments to candlesticks, it was a good year for people who, like me, collect Haunted Mansion merchandise. Of the items being sold, my favorite is the Haunted Mansion Throw which features the famous "wallpaper" pattern. This 40'' x 60'' woven throw blanket with fringed edging is something that could be added to almost any decor and it's a great way of showing your Disney Side in an understated way. The Haunted Mansion Throw retails for $54.95 and can be purchased from the Disney Store and at Disney Parks. There are also a variety of Haunted Mansion pillows available to correspond with this beautiful throw.

My Jolly Holiday Visit To The Walt Disney Family Museum
Today is Walt Disney's birthday and in honor of him I wanted to share with you some of my favorite photographs from my visit to the Walt Disney Family Museum. It was last Mother's Day and my sister and I were headed to San Francisco to see Mary Poppins : The Musical. We decided to "make a day of it" and to head into town that morning so we could eat some local food and head over to the Walt Disney Family Museum. My big sister is my best friend and a music educator and we both share a deep respect for the artistry of Walt Disney so we knew it would be a great day followed by a great evening seeing Mary Poppins together.
When we got to the Presidio of San Francisco we went straight to the museum. As we parked, we noticed a lot of people and activity on the lawns in front of the museum. To our surprise, it was an outdoor community event with fragrant food booths and an impressive farmer's market. There were hundreds of people eating, playing, talking and enjoying their families and friends together on a beautiful Mother's Day in one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. I remember thinking that Walt would have loved to see all this. We soaked up the ambiance for a bit, sampled some of the tasty local food and then headed over to the museum.
The museum itself is very impressive and, as soon as you walk in, you can tell that, like Disneyland, it is truly an act of love. From the beautiful and often colorful flooring to the sparkling stairs, the details are amazing. On the main level there is a lobby which includes a ticket/information area, a very unique museum store and a cafe with cafe seating. The lower level of the museum includes a learning center with two studios, a state-of-the-art digital theater and a ticket kiosk while the second floor houses the galleries. The permanent collection consists of ten galleries that depict Walt Disney throughout his life and career.
After we had seen all the galleries and had taken a few hundred photographs, we took some more time at the museum to just soak up all the magic around us. We looked out the huge windows at the panoramic view of the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge. We stopped by the recreation of Walt's Disneyland apartment. We did some shopping and had coffee on a bench in front of the museum before heading to see Mary Poppins. I am so glad that we planned our day so perfectly because seeing Mary Poppins on stage for the first time and hearing the audience sing and clap along was the perfect way to end our very special day. We drove home full of magic that night and I thank Walt Disney (and Diane Disney Miller) for that.
This post is dedicated to the memory of Walt Disney's daughter, Diane Disney Miller, who passed away not far from where I live in the Napa Valley on November 19th, 2013. After all, if it weren't for Walt Disney and his special "Daddy's Days" with Diane and Sharon much of this (including Disneyland) might not have happened. I thank her for sharing him with us both in life and in death. Along with so many others, I also thank Diane for preserving her dad's legacy and for creating this special place. Diane's tireless work through the Walt Disney Family Foundation, a non-profit organization established by the Disney family, has allowed us all to better understand Walt Disney the man. The Walt Disney Company is, after all, still a company and having the family touch in the museum is one of the main reasons I love it so much. I love that his legacy is well-protected and that future generations will be able to explore the world of such a genius.
The galleries consist of:
Gallery 1 - Beginnings: Walt Disney’s Early Years (1901-1923)
Gallery 2 - Hollywood (1923-1928)
Galleries 3 - New Horizons: The Emergence of the Walt Disney Studio (1928-1940)
Gallery 4 - The Move to Features: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Gallery 5 - New Success and Greater Ambitions
Gallery 6 - The Late ‘30s to Mid ‘40s
Gallery 7 - Post-War Rebuilding: Mid-‘40s to the early 1950s
Gallery 8 - Walt and the Natural World
Gallery 9 - The 1950s and 1960s: The Big Screen and Beyond
Gallery 10 - Remembering Walt Disney
The museum is, I think, as Walt would want it to be. It is very modern but still respects history. Not only does it host special events like screenings and parties, it welcomes in other artists to share their own work while still recognizing the value of Walt Disney's timeless gold standard. It brings people together to celebrate creativity and to learn about the value of quality storytelling. It truly does fulfill its mission of celebrating and exploring "the life and achievements of the man who raised animation to an art, transformed the film industry, tirelessly pursued innovation, and created a global and distinctively American legacy."
